Hi, TD5 (2005) owner based in Botswana. Recent problem where it won't start. Doesn't appear electrical - dashboard lights up. Small click noise from engine bay but effectively appears to be immobilised. Think this may be where the issue stems from. Turn the key fob on/off multiple times or come back to it later and it starts up fine. Little immobiliser light is not flashing when unlocked. Any suggestions or ideas welcome or typical issues in this regard. Happening now with increasing regularity and worried it may give up altogether. Thanks.

Sounds very like the contacts giving up in the starter solenoid. The click is the solenoid moving which should then make the contacts do their job but they are only doing this intermittently. As you repeatedly turn the key in the end the solenoid jogs the contacts into a position from which they can pass the current.
You can get hold of contact repair kits. Some people replace them with the starter still in place because the starter top nut is such a sod to undo, but the best way is to take the starter off. Once the starter is off it is a piece of p!ss to do.

Hi Having done this just recently I am putting this up in case others have the same problems as I did and want to know the easiest way to solve them. Reason for doing it? Irregular starting, turn key to final position, solenoid clicks but starter doesn't turn, until I tried it over and over...

I did make the assumption that you had checked the tightness of all wires to the starter.
You MAY, just may, be able to undo the two nuts holding the wires on to each side of the solenoid then tighten the nuts underneath these and find that having been loose, the tightening then makes the contacts work better. Once the wires have been put back on. Mine were a tad loose.
This might just make it start better until the kit arrives.
