At last, I have now ugraded my engine and gearbox.

Now fitted; 3.9 with Carbs and LPG mated to ZF Gearbox.

It is an absolute blast, pulls like a steam train and smoother than a cashmere cod-piece.

Haven't got the kick down working, but not really bothered about that.

Now need to finish off the inside and find a way to make the exhaust sound better..

1988 90.

Looks rough as guts from the outside, actually, not much better inside, but goes really well - just driven down to South Devon for the weekend in it.

Was hoping for 15 miles a gallon, I'm not convinced it is over 10, so have stopped measuring.....

It took me ages to get mine to 16mpg combined and thats with the injection, good luck with it on carbs, you should gas it , I heard its much cheper to fit a gas system to one thats on carbs!

It's already on gas according to his first post

V8, LPG, Carbs, Automatic, and shed-like aerodynamics are probably the worst possible combination for fuel consumption, in the entire world. My old 3.9 on carbs in my 110 (manual) rarely got better than 11mpg, even on long runs. Diabolical, though I expect it could have been improved marginally with a service. (Didn't ever actually find out though, got shot of the thing too quickly!) :D:D:D

i did some long runs to abersoch and back in the summer.

it's 140 mile there, run around all weekend, 140 mile back.

that cost around 150 quid :D

it works out about 8 mpg at 70 mph i reckon.

good job i absolutely stinkin love it, and dont drive it every day.

ha ha, what an entertaining vehicle :D

everytime i see this thread i think its summat to do with well ya know..... till i realise again thats in the V8 section.. and not anythin goes  :D

Mine's a 3.5 actually.

I now understand why they are so thirsty!

I dont mind the cost so much, i hardly use it, but it does bother me that it runs so rich.

i assume swapping to a megasquirt system sorts out the fueling aswell as the igntion - BUT its a whole lotta cash to spend on a car that does alright as it is, albeit could be better!

Cheers :D
