Hi all.
I'm going to look at an 02 plate 4.0 v8 ES with lpg fitted tomorrow.Am i mad and letting my heart rule my head or am i gonna be impressed. I presently have a 2.0 mpi on lpg so fuel economy isnt much different. Your opinions would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for replying V8 Disco.....the disco im going for tomorrow has just had a Turners Engineering short motor fitted so im hoping that i wont be having lots of overheating problems. My 2.0 mpi gets 17 mpg round the doors so im not really losing much and cant wait to get the v8 burble back.

you should notice the power if youve been driving an mpi

Yes you are mad!! But I understand. If the price of fuel was better I'd be driving a V8 rather than a tractor in a disco body. Enjoy it

I get about 25mpg on my td5 and thats with dakars on which made a big difference in reducing my econ.

Thanks all for replying. I dont really know why i asked what mpg to expect, seeing that i have had my disco mpi for 6 yrs and put up with 17 to the gallon on petrol.Especially when you consider that the power to weight ratio is the same as a citroen 2cv lol. But at the end of it all,she is my baby and i will be keeping her and restoring her to her former glory, comes in handy being good at welding, panel beating and a qualified painter.
And no disrespect to you guys with your Td5's. but if i wanted a tractor i would buy a John Deere lol

Get it you won't regret.......... much :D

I get around 14 on lpg pottering around and on the work run which is rural single carriageway route and 17 on the motorway, on petrol 17 and 20.

thanks for that mogwyth. my mpi only returns 17mpg round town so im not losing much. And the disco im after has just had a Turners Engineering short engine fitted and it comes with warranty.

Thanks Andy for replying to my post. Im just hoping that it is as good as the man says as i am travelling 250 miles to see it.and thats 250 miles each way.

I have had mine now for about 9 months and smile every time I start it, and when I am feeling flush I put my foot down and the smile gets even bigger when I here the engine roar. If I am careful I can get between 18 and 20 mpg which isn't to bad as my mates TD5 only gives him around 25mpg. ENJOY. 
