Hi guys, after getting rid of the bain of my life a couple of months ago, Ive now purchased yet another bloody one. Albeit it is not gas converted and at the time of the veiwing, this Range Rover was running efficiently. Rest assured though Im not holding my breathe on how long its going to remain unbroken.
It is a 4.0 p38 with 227k on the clock, having had a new engine at 80k. The only concerns Ive got are that the heater matrix has been bypassed as it was leaking. Is this a easy fix? Bloke reckoned new ones are £35? And second problem is the central locking isnt working, again the bloke reckons it needs to be programmed? Its had new air suspension pump and a new switch control panel. Ive drove it and all seems well apart from an exhaust blow from where the centre section joins the front part. I had it running for quite a while 20 minutes and held the revs on on stand still to try and make it overheat, then road tested it. But alas no overheating. The coolant pipes werent pressurising either.
So now Im just hoping Ive bought a decent one this time and get to enjoy it instead of staring at it through my window for 12 months. Hoping to gain some more useful tips and advice from you guys again.
p.s. he reckons it does 23mpg around town. lol!

Welcome back Matt, What happened to your last Rangie. If I remember right, you had overheating / Gasket problems

Thanks guys, I think. Yeah Dave it was overheating and kept flooding itself basically. I paid an auto electrician to look at it. The diagnostics tool was saying open circuit injectr 4 and crank sensor fault. He said ecu might be blown, and sent it for testing. Apparently they said repaired it but said "it needs repair but not sure whether it will fix the problem on the car as their test bed was limited" guess what...it didnt solve the problem. Just got sick of looking at it. Swore never to get one again but hey ho.
Anyone changed their heater matrix before?

Hi

Some guys over at rangerovers. net have done a shortcut job on the LHD models I know this wouldn't work for RHD, but could something be adapted to make the process similar?

Much in the way the blend motors can be replaced with a short-cut, the lift pump etc. Just by cutting/boring holes in the hidden metalwork underneath the plastic covering to gain access to fixing screws etc.

But not for the matrix
