Series 3 Identifying carburettor linkage function

I have a Zenith 36 VI carburettor.
There is a mysterious unconnected linkage arm (sorry, I don't know what it is supposed to be called)
Can any one help me identify it/ suggest what it should be connected to (if anything) ?

That's a mystery, there isn't anything like it on the carb I have squirrelled away and it isn't shown on the pictures in the links that Blackburn has provided.
 
sometimes reaplcments come with arms for both rod and cable or left of right rod connections so there's often a spare. Another option is that some carbs can link a fast idle to the choke but it not always used.

The round section rod to the right of our mystery linkage is the fast idle for the choke.
