Just the engine I suspect. £5 ODB2 reader will do that from Amazon when combined with the Torque app.
Thats the kicker with the pree '99 P38's not a huge amount of aftermarket diagnostics available aside from Nanocom, Falutmate, Lynx or Hawkeye.....

As you say, a £5 Amazon ELM OBD jobby with either a free scan software or the Torque app will give you pretty much the same as the iCarsoft does on the pre-99's.

The features list does mention the unit will do the AC, Cruise Control and SRS on 1995-2002 and it does say Wabco-D only for the P38....so not sure why it wouldn't connect to my 1998 AC, Cruise or SRS....might try again another day - but still, I bought it for the Freelander and the L322 as the P38 is destined to go soon sadly!

Thanks for the write-up Ant' gives a good steer for folks looking for some fault code reading tools.
Cannot beat the Nanocom really; other than with the full Faultmate kit it seems.

Nanocom is the best tool for the P38 by a very, very long way. Faultmate is very expensive and locked to a VIN number unless you pay serious money to have it unlocked for professional use. If you want to use it's full potential the cost is eye watering. Nanocom is not locked to one VIN and can be used on any P38 petrol or diesel providing you have the extra unlock codes. At about £50.00 a pop. The only thing it won't do, the Faultmate will do, is unlock the BECM. And again the cost of that software is high. So Nanocom all day long.

Absolutely - purpose of my vid was to show what the iCarsoft unit will do on my 1998 P38A and the L322 - as many come on LZ and ask about the iCarsoft product....

As you say; Nanocom on the P38A all day long.....

Yes i appreciate that, they have been told over and over again it is not much use on the P38, but they still persist. Even after your video they possibly still will, some people just will not listen.

Thanks for the video.
I'm one of the naysayers about iCarsoft products not working well for my V8 Disco 2. Maybe for the Version 2 diagnostic tester they've gotten better software/firmware upgrades since I owned one. I had the CR Plus model which worked good when used on all other brands of cars but it didn't compare to my Foxwell or Nanocom for my Disco 2.

Hi all, new to the group. I have a 2001 P38 2.5 which won't let me input the EKA code. I read that the nanocom may be the best tool for this, and I see references in this thread to icarsoft being very limited on pre-99 P38s. Probably a silly question and may have been asked a 1000 times but... would it allow me to input my eka code on a 2001 2.5?
Thanks, Phil.

Welcome :)

Probably better to start a new thread in the Range Rover section.
Giving a bit of history to your car, and what you are seeing on the dash message.
Nanocom is a great bit of kit, depending on the situation you are in.
So more details needed.
Do keys work?
Does it open remotely?
Etc.

Almost certainly not. Use the key in the door, but check door latch is working or EKA will fail. . . . .

and +1 on start a new thread. P38 diseasel needs specific diagnostics for all ECU's.

Thanks for this. And just to ask - a nanocom would enable eka input regardless of faulty door latch?

Once you have a Nanocom and have got past entering EKA, turn off the EKA function and the immobiliser in the BECM and save yourself a lot of potential hassle in the future. You will be able to operate the car with just the key blade if necessary.
