I know some people ask about the iCarsoft system - as I have one I thought I'd do a quick vid of it on my 1998 GEMS P38A
Thats the kicker with the pree '99 P38's not a huge amount of aftermarket diagnostics available aside from Nanocom, Falutmate, Lynx or Hawkeye.....Just the engine I suspect. £5 ODB2 reader will do that from Amazon when combined with the Torque app.
Pretty much....So can we sum up by saying that for the £150.00 cost as far as the pre 1999 P38 is concerned it is about as useful as tits on a Mars bar.
Absolutely - purpose of my vid was to show what the iCarsoft unit will do on my 1998 P38A and the L322 - as many come on LZ and ask about the iCarsoft product....Nanocom is the best tool for the P38 by a very, very long way. Faultmate is very expensive and locked to a VIN number unless you pay serious money to have it unlocked for professional use. If you want to use it's full potential the cost is eye watering. Nanocom is not locked to one VIN and can be used on any P38 petrol or diesel providing you have the extra unlock codes. At about £50.00 a pop. The only thing it won't do, the Faultmate will do, is unlock the BECM. And again the cost of that software is high. So Nanocom all day long.

As you say; Nanocom on the P38A all day long.....
Where DO I buy those Mars bars...???So can we sum up by saying that for the £150.00 cost as far as the pre 1999 P38 is concerned it is about as useful as tits on a Mars bar.
WelcomeHi all, new to the group. I have a 2001 P38 2.5 which won't let me input the EKA code. I read that the nanocom may be the best tool for this, and I see references in this thread to icarsoft being very limited on pre-99 P38s. Probably a silly question and may have been asked a 1000 times but... would it allow me to input my eka code on a 2001 2.5?
Thanks, Phil.
Almost certainly not. Use the key in the door, but check door latch is working or EKA will fail. . . . .Hi all, new to the group. I have a 2001 P38 2.5 which won't let me input the EKA code. Once you have a Nanocom and have got past entering EKA, turn off the EKA function and the immobiliser in the BECM and save yourself a lot of potential hassle in the future. You will be able to operate the car with just the key blade if necessary. Thanks for this. And just to ask - a nanocom would enable eka input regardless of faulty door latch?
