Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the Icarsoft i930 diagnostic tool for the TD5?

They are currently on eBay for £98 which seems very reasonable....

Hi Ben , think you may be posting in the wrong place.

iirc has been discussed a few times. Problem is the D2 is not fully OBDII compliant.

Cheers

I just want to be able to read and delete error codes. I have recently welcomed the 3 amigos so if it's a faulty abs sensor I'd have a go myself. With the Icarsoft being £98 I thought a couple of go's with it and it would have paid for itself.

Thanks

As @neilly and others have already said, the diesel Disco 2 is NOT compatible with OBDII protocols. The Ebay advert you've looked at just says "Discovery 2" and no mention of the Td5.
These adverts become confusing because the petrol Discos 2's did become compatible with OBDII in the mid to late 1990's I believe, but the diesel Discovery did not become compatible until mid 2004 with the release of the Discovery 3.
The iCarsoft device might work, but honestly I wouldn't trust what it was showing when plugged into a diesel Disco 2.
The only code readers for DIY work known to work with the diesel Disco 2 are either Nanocom, Hawkeye or Lynx.

Thanks for the info.

Really appreciated

I am too seeking a diagnostics tool for my Diesel TD5 Disco II year 2002. Am wary of the posts and advice read on this forum about the limited capability of iCarsoft i930 and I recognize the all bells-n-whistles capability of the Nanocom and Hawkeye devices. But £400 ++ is a lot of cash for a new device that I might have limited use and may be limited to a specific vehicle or marque. So I recently asked the question to diagnostic world about the i930 and share the answer received below:

Hello ***** thanks for your email.
The i930 is not going to be suitable unfortunately.
We do have an alternative kit that is suitable though as shown in this link here

http://www.diagnostic-world.com/pages/iCarsoft_LR_V1_0_Land_Rover_Jaguar_Multi_System_Diagnostic_Reset_Tool_Engine_ABS_Airbags_Oil_Reset_189376-z=564760&p=129341.cfm
It’s quite new to the market and has already worked well for other customers for the Discovery II.
We have this in stock with immediate dispatch.
Kind regards

Diagnostic-World

Whilst this new contender may never be a match for Nanocom/Hawkeye, at £110 it may be a serious economic candidate to fill the gap for those of us with TD5 diagnostics needs. Anyone already purchased one and have experience?

Interesting, I would ask them if it is 100% compatible with the TD5 Diesel Discovery 2 as opposed to the Petrol engine one. Plus check what their return policy is if it is not as they claim.

Cheers

@Ben Raftery It might be worth taking a look at Britpart's new £280 Lynx Evo (http://www.lynx-diagnostics.com/what-is-lynx-evo/).

I'm presently looking to get one; I'm no expert. The Lynx Evo is a new unit, so I can't find many reviews for it; but it's "big brother" (see vid. below) seems to be well known and respected. It looks much more intuitive to use than the others.
Here's the Lynx compatibility chart for Discovery 2's: http://www.lynx-diagnostics.com/land-rover-coverage/discovery-2/

Having said all that, Hawkeyes and Nanocoms are well respected, and the Hawkeye Total's vehicle compatibility list looks especially tasty, even if it's clunky to use in comparison to the Lynx.

EDIT:
OK, we've bought the Lynx Evo, and I'm leaving this as a note for anyone interested in this diagnostics system: Now probably isn't the time to get the Lynx Evo – I've just learned the hard way.

According to Britpart support, there's currently no user manual for the Lynx Evo, so I'm fumbling around trying to use a somewhat clunky phone app. Things may improve, but they really shouldn't be selling the product before they put together a manual. Because it's such a new product, there are few other people out there who have any experience with it.
It might be going back to Britpart.

I have just joined Landyzone as I have been looking for an affordable scan tool for my son's Discovery 2 TD5 2002.
I found your post and have contacted Diagnostic World UK regarding their icarsoft LRV1.0. They replied---------
I have spoken to our engineers who confirm that the kit is suitable for your vehicle yes.
We have this kit in stock with quick dispatch here
