I have got as far as looking to see how straight wood is at wix and b&q. That is it. Wix was bent in both directions and the pile doesn't drop so no peeps buying it. B&q are flogging 50 sheets a week. When they have about 98 theres a fresh pile. They sit theirs ont floor on 4 wooden strips. Only the botton ones bend a bit. I assume when they forky picks them up. Wix is on a 2 bar shelf so they bend in storage.

Eye us buildering an 8x4 nooker table on top of a 6x2.5 foot table. So the ends will over hang by a foot. Plus another foot when it slides. How to keep the main table sheet of mdf flat is a problem. Eye has come up wiv the idear of supports holding it up, hinged on the 6 foot ends. And thats it so far. Just finking.
I admire your attitude.
What I'd really like to find is one of those dining tables that converts into a snooker table. Only ever seen two in my life. One in a flat in London and another on TV that prog Money for nothing or summat. In one case the dining table bit just lifted off the top of the snooker table and was put to one side, in the other the table rotated so there was the dining part on one side and the snooker part on the other. So in both cases each table was the same size.
Do you need to keep the basic table part for something? If not you could make a basic chassis out of box section, fit it to your table base and fit the top to that.
I have never looked for a secondhand table, so I don't know how easy they are to find, and I have a horrible feeling that full size ones might be easier to come buy as my ex s-i-l has found them and chopped them up for the hardwood. But if you could find a proper half size one it'd have a proper slate bed. When I was at school we got hold of one and put it together. The bits of slate were as heavy as heck but they sure gave a good surface.
I bet @kevstar could get one if he put his mind to it!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

I made some for my two lathes and this one for a mate.

What's the full ...0 Varying the speed pot? A bit counter intuitive to be clockwise to decrease?
I know this is very cheeky, but have you got a parts list/source of parts?
It would save me lot of time/trial & error.

TIA. Dan.

It was for a friend who wanted it that way. My personal ones are clockwise to increase etc.
I do have a build document somewhere, I will drop it into a PM when I find it 👍

Dining table version pop up on ebay. Several companies making them. I have a work table from wuk to build mine on. Steel rectangle frame wiv 4 steel legs. Harf inch strong chipboard like sheet of wood on top. It will stay in the room where it is. No other use for that room at the moment.

I have looked at proper tables. 12 foot is about 1200 to 1400kg. Eye would need to knock a wall down and spread it across the dining and living room. Rooms dun't have the width as eye need a 2 foot pillars each side of the steal support. Looked at 8 foot tables. Often 3 sections of slate but still 700 to 800kg and a sod to move. Need 4 peeps to pick up slates. Would need to put somefink under me floor boards to strengthen them.

Eye were going to make mine 9 foot but 8 will be easier to make. Only one outlet eye know of which sells 9x4.5 mdf but its commercial sales only. So going for 8x4 with 1 foot movement long ways. 8 foot is the biggest wood base peeps make. About 3k6 sovs to buy. They install it for you. Eye can buy that but want to make me own. Mine will be easier to move if needed in years to come. Its a future project at the moment as eye have too much other stuff to do first. Just finking about it at the moment.

Tiddun no gude. Us bin stuck indoors orl day nursin a cold but feelin unfulfilled an laike us be a burden on society. Us avvin a shower an goan doan pub tu du us civic duty. Once standards start tu slip, democracy be at risk an the fabric uv us fragile liberties be threatened. Wish us boys well, frens.
Well, when you've got it, it is rude not to spread it around to as many as you can. ;)

...that at £136 this week's energy costs have been a bit high. :(
And that's before the lathe is running too!

Yes, families use a lot of energy. People having baths and showers several times a day, washing clothes at 90 C after they've been worn for only a couple of hours and then putting them in a tumble drier, turning the heating up, and then up even further so they can lounge around in a T shirt and grotesque chequered shorts in the middle of winter. Yes, I've had that too, and I never had any kids of my own so I can't quite understand how it happens to me.
