If it can't be achieved without enforcement then limit fireworks to displays only. Peeps know whats appropriate and what's not. Society has the option to gain a moral grip of itself.

The term nanny state is derived by those who can't eggcept guidence is needed from above in order to keep us going in an agreed direction. It's an easy get out. Bit like blaming the EU. We need control in place to keep society going. We don't need to rely on it for everything.
We have a lot of old people round ere. A lot of fireworks last night were next door to an elderly person who's struggling and on her way out. Having been neighbours for around 30 years I would hope they would have had some respect and consideration. That's just one house of many. Why they can't do 6 till 8 instead of 7 till 1am is down to being arrogunt. Just because you can buy fireworks it dun't mean yer have to buy half the shop.

change the law and ban everything because you have an issue,go and see the council there already laws on anti social behaviour but i doubt they will bother due to resources or the guilty are scum and so cant be touched ,nanny state is only welcome by those that wish to impose their narrow views on all over every aspect of life

It's about being considerate to your neighbours. If you buy more fireworks than one person can carry from their car, you have bought too many.
I see they sell what's marked as display fireworks in shops now. Perhaps an easier solution would be to limit the power of fireworks.

Probably not. I din't know it was occupied. not sign of use of a nest. I was checking it was secure because of the wind and it shot out.

Probably just in there sheltering from the wind, small birds do that, it may be joined by others as the winter goes on.
They don't nest or rear young at this time of year.

That's interesting to know. It's in direct sun light most of the day from 9am onwards so I assumed it was for show only and wouldn't be used. Would be too hot in the summer as it's mounted on a wooden branch standing upright for display. Box is on top. 1 meter away from the fence with plants below it. So no protection. I thought about moving it but will leave it alone. I plan to put up some of my own boxes. I'm going to make one with a camera kit in it on one side in a separate section so we can watch what's going on.

Yes, we had a big pile of wrens who crammed themselves into a house martin's nest. More and more kept going in until it burst open and part of it fell off the wall!You can find a few wrens in them keeping warm overnight.

It could have been a wren. If not then a dickey bird. It were small and brown I think. It came out that fast I din't have time to see it. I like little birds like that. It's the type I want when I get sorted with some more boxes. Ah din't think the hole were big enough ferra bird to get in.
