Now I don't want to tempt fate as such but things are going great in my "up and down" ownership with the Rangie.

If anybody is keeping up with my desperate pleas for help and moaning about leaks etc, you'll notice over the tone of my last posts that things are, well, okay.

I seem to have sorted the leak in the rear so no more blown sat navs and amplifiers. Fingers crossed I have brought the amp back from the dead with a small investment of £2.89 and a sewing needle (more on that another day).

As I said in a previous post, barring the gearbox problem coming up, I'm starting to do the little diy jobs that never meant much.

So in between searching for a new sets of wheels (can't decide between 18's or 20's but that's another thread), I thought I'd ring the transmission specialists in Preston as that's not a million miles away from me. Plus I can drive it in there rather than have it towed as the box is perfect in manual, juddery in auto. Whilst speaking to a very "in the know" chap, I described my symptoms whilst waiting for the suspected £1995 rebuild price tag they had quoted online and then he used the words "sounds more like a torque convertor to me, if it is you're looking at £850".

Could this truly be the turning in our relationship? I know Bemble filled me full of confidence in my early ownership giving a very detailed description of what happens to the gearboxes so I was more than happy with the £2K rebuild but this could be something else.

Wish me luck!!!!

I got the 20" stormer wheels and they look small still. 18" would just disappear in that massive arch.
