Daft question. Are bolts REALLY that expensive??

I wanted to buy some M8x60, M8x120, M10x60, M10x120 for spares then washers and nuts to go with them. Found places asking as much as £120 for a bag of 100 M10 bolts.. So the above shopping list needs to change...

Any good places?

I DO however need 4 of the M10 x 120, washers and nuts quickly, to replace the 4 bumper mounting bolts on the Disco 1 by the weekend.

Also on the Disco 1, (if you were sat at the bumper looking under the car and towards the back) does anyone know the size of the big bolt a little further back down the chassis on the drivers side, I think it’s holds the steering rods in place? I want to fit my recovery points along with the rest of the work this weekend and this bolt is also required to secure them and the passenger side does has the hole but no bolt as there is nothing to secure on that side.

Any particular types I should go for or avoid??

there's a place I use for bolts that is in Newbury... don't know the name of the place though, but they have all kinds of bolts, nuts and washers and will even make a bolt if you really need one and they dont have it on the shelf.
Loads of tools in there too..

it's where the green pin is.

Cheers guys, keep em coming.

I think the 120mm long would only be needed if anything was being bolted theough the chassis, thinking about it 25 of each:
M8x60
M8x100
M10x60
M10x100

and 25 M8 and another 25 M10 nuts and washers should keep me going for a long time. I'm also wanting a rivnut tool and rivnuts in both sizes should cover pretty much anything I need to do eh?? It's only occasionally I'd need to dip into thes anyway. Just handy to have them when you need them init.

JP, does 'Cadmatic' or 'Newbury tools' ring a bell.

Good for steering guards n jate rings

That's my thinking. So far just need the four for the front bumper and to secure both my recovery points to the front (and the two big bolts for further back, they look like bigguns), but spares are always good and would still like some recovery points for the rear

I get mine from Mole Valley Farmers store, theres one in Frome ( I think ) thats nearer to you.

Or,better still, Stones on Old Market in Bristol, just past Skin Deep tattoo shop as you drive up...mind the parking tho'.......,even closer. When I worked in bristol on lorries and landies they always had what I needed fixing wise, any size any amount. And meanwhile you could go to machine mart on lawrence hill for tools,it'd be on your way if you come in through kingswood on the A420.And you could drop in at Christians land rover shop while you're passing!

it might be Cadmatic..
looking in google its showing in the same warehouse as where the shop is, and next to it is just some place where they do race cars…
So might well be cadmatic..

Avery Knight and Bowler (next to Sainsburys) in Bath.......never managed to ask them for something they didn't have in stock and beleive me, I've tried!

Sell the things in whatever quantity you need.

Stainless are good for corrosion resistance but are quite weak. Always use high tensile steel preferably galvanised for any load bearing bolts.
