suspension mods is the way to go. If you fit bigger wheels, the depth of the tyre sidewall diminishes accordingly, so the overall diameter doesn't change.

????? is you saying that a 225/60 15 is the same height as a 225/60 16?

i think not me old fruit

He is talking about the difference from 195/80 R15 to 215/65 R16 - the overall circumference is very similar.

You could get a small amount of lift by fitting 80 profile tyres to 16 and 17 inch rims, but this would affect the speedometer and may invalidate insurance.

Regards,

Steve

i see no referance to actual sizes ceptin fer the 15" dia.
it all depends how much lift they want, 1",2", 3" or more.

1" or so you could probelly acheive by changing wheels and tyres

2" ad say yer looking at springs and stuff

over 2" and yer talking big money

I agree, but if you put 215/80 R16 tyres on instead, the rim diameter and tyre width would be the same as OE fitment, but the sidewall would be slightly taller effectively lifting the vehicle up. (and of course altering the speedo)

Steve

now am completely lost, how can a 16" rim be the same size as a 15" rim?

I mean buy larger diameter OE fitment wheels, but instead of using the LR recommended tyre sizes adjust to gain more ground clearence.

I lowered a car and had problems catching the exhaust on severe speed bumps.

I upgraded the alloys from 15" to 16" and the tyre size difference raised my car about an inch off the floor. Problem solved - great handling and no more exhaust scraping.

Tyres were 195/50 R15 and then 205/50 R16 (on different rims)

thank you for stepping in mr S13SJC sir. What I was trying to say was if you change from 15" to 16" wheels, the depth of the tyre sidewall is correspondingly reduced, so the overall diameter of the wheel / tyre combination remains reasonably constant.

there is a thread somewhere on here about it in some detail, but can't be arsed to find the link.

ffs heidi!! it depends on what tyre you put on.. you could change to 16's from 15's and have a smaller overall dia or you could have the same or indeed bigger dia.

all depends on which tyre size you chose.
the way you put it makes it seem like all 15" and 16" tyres are the same dia. which to someone new to the game would seem very confusing
