I have put my rrc up for sale well the parts as i am breaking it.
Just wanted to know the rrc has a 2.8isuzu engine in it but mated to a auto box. how much hassle would it be to put it in me lr90? i have been advised that it will be a mare as the flywheel is set up for auto, auto is still a mystery to me, i know its great and all that i personally dont like auto, wht cant i just put it in me 90 with lt77 gearbox?

weld in the correct engine mounts. remove the torque converter and flex plate off of the crank (auto's don't have flywheels, but have a flex plate instead onto which the torque converter bolts, so there's no "flywheel to setup for an auto", it's a nut & bolt job)

. bolt in a flywheel and clutch to suit the LT77, and away you go.

I like the sound of that. where can i get the correct bits for the flywheel? would i need to get another flywheel from a scrappy? all this would save me lots of money as the engine is sweet and 200tdis arent cheap.

Not necessarily. Often flywheels and crankshafts are balanced as a pair, so getting another flywheel might throw yo engine out of balance. Its a long time since i studied "the balancing of reciprocating masses", but it aint a job to be trifled with.

Yikes! even the official term sounds complicated. maybe sell that and go for 200tdi or get that old td working better.

converting an auto to a manual has been covered somewhere else on here I think.. can't remember who did it tho... or perhaps they changed the injun..

i did it years ago on a volvo no problems at all, until the arse of the ex brother in law put diesel in it

Its a diesel. Not the smoothest engines in the world. Get a zuzu flywheel and bolt it on. Make sure it matches the starter ring gear. It wont be far out of balance if at all. You can always get the flywheel drilled and tapped for the Landy clutch cover if needs be. You may even be able to use the zuzu clutch cover and plate if it matches the input shaft on the gear box. Or the Landy clutch plate may work with the zuzu clutch cover. My local machine shop charges £25 and it takes about an hour if they're not busy. Done it loads of times for various engine combos in all kinds of motors. You may need an input shaft bush in the end of the crank to take out any play but once again an hour on a lathe will see it done.

will look into that we got a good engineers in exeter quay industrial estate. got them to press out some rrc anti roll bar bushes out. they gotta 60tonne press and it struggled..lol..
very nice people i highly reccomend them.
