Hub but removal with no diff, IRD or brakes!

Am I wasting my time trying to remove the hub nuts when I have no rear diff, IRD or brakes fitted. The nuts do look quite new but I doubt I'm going to get them off if I can't jam it in gear and apply the brakes.

Any thoughts or helpful advice before I try? I'm guessing I can chock the wheels but I have a feeling the will just spin once I stick a big bar on them.

Plenty of WD40 etc and heat, not sure on a Freeby as I haven't had to do wheel bearings etc but knock the tabs on the locking washer back if it has them [ presume it will...].
 
it's the stake nuts that hold on the driveshafts he's removing Bushy ;)

they have a ring on the body that is bashed over to prevent loosening once fitted

No worries, I know it's tabs on a disco and an >Pfffft!< Escort, I've noticed a keyway type thing on mine but I haven't had them off yet. ;)

Aye considering the trailing arms on my disco were only supposed to be 130lb/ft and I had to brace my feet on the chassis rails and swing on the nut with a 2' breaker bar! :eek::eek::eek:

Get plenty of penetrating fluid on them before you start and remember that you might be able to break a rust bond by tightening it up a fraction rather than just swinging on it to release it. ;)
