Hey everyone. We have a 2003 Freelander 1 with the BMW TD4 engine on it. Alternator died and since I was going to change that I though of changing the belts and the tensioner. Now problem is the tensioner is quite long and the only way I can think of pulling it off is by dropping the engine... Which I can't quite do since I'm at home with no proper jack to do such a thing. Unless of course there is some way and I can't see it? I have undone the two torx holding the spring unit and I undid the 8mm on its back too and pulled it as much as I could but I of course can't get it out.

Would be awesome if I could get some insight on this and thank you in advance!

As far as I remember, you have to rotate the tensioner arm towards you to get it to clear the frame.

That said, I did mine with the engine mount removed, so I could raise and lower the engine on the jack.
