how to stop headlamps moving

noo plastic housings? - £8 ea i think from Paddocks...

in what way do they have play?..is it just the bowl thats lose?

need it done by tomorrow.
yeah just the actual headlamp not the mount it goes onto.

clear silicone in the gap between the light unit and bowl.

only prob with that unless he has sealed beam units is what if the bulb goes and you have to remove the headlight from the bowl

it can only be the light clamp rings or the rear bowl. If its the clamp rings, a thin piece of plastic bag or summat mite be enuf.

was only suggested as a temporary fix to get it through MOT.

its really bugging me as its the simplest thing but i cant fix it
i may actually go out and attempt to fix it now lol

The only way that the headlamps can really move is if something isn't tightened up properly, or if one of the retaining clips that hold the chrome plate around the glass are missing. The assembly is made up of the plastic cup, which makes the overall frame for the sealed unit, which then has a metal plate that pushes over the top of that and clips into place. It's the chrome plate that you need to check. There should be three clips held in with screws that hold the plate to the sealed glass unit. The chrome and sealed unit are then held into place by the two hooks and one bolt which secures them. You can then adjust down the two remaining bolts to kind of stabilise the whole frame if that makes sense!?
