how to adjust the handbrake on a gaylander

OK. . . .THIS IS JUST BASIC ****E BUT AS YER A STOOPID EARTHLING UN INT GOT A CLUE BOUT MOTORS. . . . .IF ITS GOT LECCY REAR WINDOWS [UNDO REAR ASH TRAY UN DISSCONECT CIGGY LIGHTER FER ACCESS] IF IT INT GOT LECCY WINDOWS [UNDO COWLING ROUND H/BRAKE]. . . .ok chock up all wheels orft the ground un free to rotate. . . .click one notch of h/brake [bang brakes on foot pedal hard three times [resets auto adjusters] . . . .adjust the adjuster by h/brake wiff a phookin spanner till rear wheels just start to lock. . . . .bang foot brake pedal hard three times [re sets auto adjuster agin]. . . . .ok so check h/brake locks on four clicks and no more tha six. . . . .if not re -peat last load er ****e till its correct. . . . .when correct lower car and check again. . . .put in N wiff h/brake orft and push it [dont do this on a hill] to make sure its not draggin. . . . . . .:D :D :D

Fookin' far better way to claim on the insurance for it than settin' it aflame... they're much more likely to believe yers ;)

:D Joking apart make sure you follow the instructions to the letter or you'll end up with binding brakes.

Oh...and make sure if you decide to change the rear shoes that you route the cable correctly for the handbrake.

Mine was an interesting one - when I bought it it had a full years MOT. Great you think....not. Parked on a hill and thought oh oh this handbrake should hold on less clicks so round one of adjustment started. Nope no better. Braking efficiency was so poor on the n/s/r that it should not have passed MOT.

Removed rear shoes - fitted new - refitted in the reverse of how i had took them off (after all no reason to suspect any faults there) - 1 x totally seized up adjuster. 1 x handbrake cable routed incorrectly. Free up and replace adjuster (over night soak in diesel sorted it - def should have failed that MOT...) fit new shoes after reading manual.

Re adjust handbrake - sorted. Handbrake now stops my commercial vehicle brake tester on 3 notches!

Oh if only I were female and actually read the RAVE manual first!! Plus I would have 2 x something else to amuse me.......:D :D :D
