Another pump question:rolleyes:

I fitted a new fuel pump on Friday (the one under the driver rear wheel arch) and as previously reported the car is running fine. Only problem is, the pump is very noisy (brand new pump) you can hear it above the sound of the engine running and it regularly changes tone for about 1 second before reverting back to its noisy state.

I suspect it may be faulty - the old pump you could never hear above the engine but wanted some opinions before I contact the supplier:)

Doesn't sound right at all. Seems to be straining or faulty as you say. It should be as your old pump, hardly noticeable. Did you change filter as well? Did you check the direction of flow?

Yes the filter was changed about 5 weeks ago as part of a routine service, all was well until it would not start last week and I lightly tapped the pump and this allowed the car to start. The old pump was groaning badly after this and sometimes the car would lose power causing the engine management light to flash. A new pump has restored the power but its just too noisy!

The car starts hot or cold as soon as I turn the key.
