How much is it to get central locking and a security system

And which ones would people advise
Also how much is a detachable steering wheel.

Thanks.

I mean I want some advice off the owners who've had them installed and which ones are just a con. I want a decent one that actually works.

To be honest, you can purchase the central locking kit online, mine cost £29.99. Really rather simple to fit. The kit contains everything you need, including a x2 fobs with blank keys which you have cut. The instructions are excellent and the job shouldn't take any longer than 2 hours. :)

£19per hour. That's what I'll charge to type the above into Google!

Ouch look at you. ;)

I went to my local Halfords last night, the lad in there HAD a lifted 90 which was parked up around the back of his house, a couple of weeks ago his neighbour came running around his house cos someone was driving off in it. He'd removed the battery and the steering wheel but someone still nicked it. Don't think a removable steering wheel is the best deterrent...

Haha I know it's seems lazy but am just trying to find the best brands to buy as you guys know a lot more than me. Going to look at getting my first defender today abit nervous going into the unknown but if you like them you can't resist them

I have a Hawke one that does central locking and alarm. So far I have only fitted the alarm immobilizer bit, but seems good for what it cost, once you get past the annoying beep when you lock it.

The kits are about £50 I think.

This if it has worked haha

I'll probably get a better roof rack think that's one is too much like a shopping trolly and it's got to side way folding seats in the back.

I'm in the process of fitting a Cat 1 Toad Sterling One with central locking, i'll let you know what its like when im done.

Sorry should have said it cost £98 for the alarm and £5 each for the door solenoids and a few quid on relays, wire and tape to try and make a decent job of hiding wires.

I fitted this to my Alarm, easy to fit and doors lock and sets alarm, they do alarms on there as well, and very good customer service.

Universal 2 Door Central Locking Kit (12V) £17.99 - in-car-stuff.com - Car Alarms & Security, Car Audio, Car DVD & TV, Reversing Cameras, Free UK delivery

Somewhere on there is useful wiring info for fitting your alarm to a Defender.

Also used 2 rear door grommet thingys to protect the wires. Ignore the words this panel, that was for an old post that was sorted.
