Hi guys,
A quick question for you...how many filaments should there be inside the MAF?
In an effort to cure a rough running problem while still cold, I swapped out/cleaned most of the sensors, including replacing the MAF and lubricating a stiff turbo actuator, I was doing this to rule them out before I had to think about the injectors.
None of this cured the problem, though I am slightly embarrassed to admit a dose of Red X in the next fuel fill sorted it, along with a good run at top speed.
I've since examined the original MAF and noticed it has only one filament on a stainless steel 'frame' which looks designed to hold two in a fore and aft tandem layout and reading posts on various sites has only muddied the water, so to speak, as to how many there should be.
Some people post cleaning one filament or seeing 'a fine filament' when examining their MAF, while others talk of two filaments.
As the running didn't appear to change very much when the MAF was changed out for another Land Rover part, (both Siemans) I'm curious to know the answer. Anyone throw some light on this?
Cheers
Rob
