Up **** creek.
As above really, I know its a bit like how long is a piece of string but roughly what would be a reasonable timescale to change the gearbox, crank shaft seal and clutch on a manual V8i Discovery 1?

Cheers

Don't know about a V8 but I expect similar, I did a 300Tdi box out and clutch replacement on the floor of my garage, not even a trolley jack, no rear crank seal replaced, all up about 7 to 8 hours and I'm not ot a young bloke or a strong bloke, but I made up a lifting gantry affair that sat on the front foor and supported the gearbox through the transmission tunnel/gearstick opening.
Just remembered also I had two broken off bell housing bolts to remove while the gearbox was out,
Not something I would choose to do as a regular job, but doable.

V8 is a bit worse due the twin down pipes and exhaust, which, IIRC need to come off, out of the way. I think @Flossie 's estimate is about right - assuming the crank seal plays ball. if you know you;ll be short of time, buuy a new seal carrier and seal, and just swap the carrier during surgery. Worth a bit of prep, to penetrating oil on all the nuts and bolts beforehand IMHO.

Rave has some good advice about the C of G of the T/box too, and how to fasten it to a trans jack

Good luck with it.

With a ramp and all the gear i would say between 4 and 6 hours depending on what is seized and what is not.

I did one recently. Ball ache of a job with getting exhaust bolts undone so gave them a good spray and left for an hour. Was on my on one a lift with everything laid out ready took six hours and that was with stopping for a cuppa and a sandwich. If it's your first time get underneath with your phone and take plenty of pictures before you start. Change the crank seal and make the job 100%
