How long is your dipstick?

A personal question i know :D

Its a 3.5v8 and its new to me, and its smoking like hell!!!

But to me the dip stick looks like its about crank hight, looks to high to me.

:confused:
 
you could look up the ammount it should have in, drain it and then put the exact ammount for that model in if you think its over full
 
There were a number of different lengths in the 70's and 80's. But your question should be how long is your dipstick and how far does the tube it goes into stick out from the block.

This is what i ended up doing in the end, i took out 10 litres of oil! :eek::eek:

I have put the correct amount in and now all is fine :)

I am now going to go through this engine like a dose of salts, just to make sure no other mistakes have been made by the last owner.

Well that's my next few weekends sorted.

what a dip stick lol

if you want to check oil level and dont have a dip stick drain oil and replace filter it will take 6.2 litres or 6.5 if you have the older bigger oil filter
