probably already been answered aload of times, my old disco came with button start. it had a rocker switch which was wired inbetween the battery and fuel stop solenoid and a push button between the battery and starter remote. still needed the key to unlock the steering and use all other eletrics. downside of doing that way was that you could still start the car without keys

 - that's NOT the way to do it!!!

You might as well leave the keys in the ignition

never said it was the right way lol. its just how the car came. could trace all the wires aswell as they were all bright yellow. like i said thats how it came when i got it. kept it that way for 2yrs and thats how it went after it got written off. i wouldn't however recommend anybody do it that way.

its not rocket science, I fitted one to me nova when I was 18...
and to the scotch locker... it probably hasnt cut through the insulation at all/enough to make contact, scotch locks like giving poor connections, one of plenty of reasons to run away from them.
My landy had no scotch locks under the dash when I got it, choc-block however...

As its to do with the ignition wiring and how to start the car - i thought it might be an idea to keep it private???

Just fit a second original switch to one of the dash blanks (use a latching switch as starter cut out) EG spot lights
cheaper and more effective than any alarm.........(leaving transfer box in neutral is always a good one too!)
