How do i reprogramme my key fob???

Hi
i've got a 2001 Y reg discovery ES and i can't get in my car using the key fob!! and when i get in using the key in the lock the alarm starts going off!!! i've looked in my handbooks and can't find anything on reprogramming a key fob. please can someone help me!

sounds like your going to need a locksmith with programming gear-this will be
substantially cheaper than a main dealer.Make sure you choose a reputable
firm ,try the institute of certified locksmiths,or the guild of master locksmiths,
whilst there was a way of reprogramming some of the old ford fey fobs by turning
the ignition on and off-I dont think land rover transponders work this way.

Needs someone with a Nanocom type computor, any LR specialist would be able to do it for you, whereabouts are you? Otherwise these people can help

i'm near blackpool. but someone else has said to me after i posted my question that discovery 2 doesn't need reprogramming after a new battery has been put in like the discovery 1!! i'm so confused!!

Your confused.com... there's programming ie. giving the key/fob a vehicle data ID and there's re-synchronizing ie. re-matching the set/unset sequence. A Disco 2 key/fob dosen't need re-synchronizing after the battery has been replaced unlike the D1 fob which does.

You can bypass the immobiliser to get to a dealer by using the EKA code.

This enables you to enter a number stored in the BCU unit so that you can open the doors and start the engine.

The number is only available through a dealer, and they will require full documentation details from you, including the VIN number.

The method of entering the number is in the handbook.

When we 'lost' our key in a bonfire (don't ask!) we retrieved the key blade and had new keys cut. On entry to the vehicle, we had no alarms at all, but the battery had been off for a while when we did the engine rebuild. We were able to get it running with the EKA code. It is a one-shot method and once you turn off the ignition, it will reset itself after 5 minutes. If you leave the ignition turned on it will restart OK.

If you have suddenly 'lost' the ability to use the key fob, you may need to reset the system by disconnecting the battery for a while, depends on what the actual problem is.

Hi Peter the EKA is available for free, directly from a very nice lady at Jaguar-Land Rover UK.

You need to provide her with proof of ownership and she will provide (very quickly) your EKA code and if you need it, your original ICE code. I've done this twice now with different Landies and she was just great.

Yes I know, Constance and I have had quite a few exchanges by email regarding our own Disco and its build history

I just dealt with a lady called Melanie there and had the code almost by return after letting her have a copy pf the v5 and my driving licence.

She was also kind enough to tell me that there is an outstanding service action on my 12 year old Disco and to take it along to a stealer for the repair to be done.

Well impressed.

disco 1 immobisiers are easy to by-pass(re wire an ignition feed to the stop solinoid, but sadly the disco 2 aren't easy as that
