Well a 4.6 with a slipped liner on a recovery truck uses less fuel than a 4.0 litre being driven on the road that's for sure.

As many know I currently have an L322 and a P38....
Previously I have owned 3 other P38's (2x 4.6 and a DSE) and also 2 Classics a 3.5 and a 3.9....
The current P38 is a GEMS 4.0 and I can safely and proudly say I have Diesel performance with V8 running costs
The 4.0 litre is pretty good but you do notice the lack of torque when compared with the 4.6...the 4.6 is a tad more 'urgent' and willing to pull whereas the 4.0 is a good strong puller but will get there when it wants to and not when you do!!
Saying that, my DSE was chipped and she would lift her skirt and take off when poked!!
