Horny question ;)

I dont know if they are all like it, but the horn on my `94 90 is pathetic.
Its embarrassing that a big tough looking Landy has such a soft, squeaky voice. I fancy putting a big feck off loud one on, not musical or `owt but a big `ol fog horn. Anyone done this? What did you go for?

HALFORDS air horns @ £15 cheap as chips + they work ok (keep the compressor well oiled ............ooooomissis)......1 live to the relay ,,trigger it with origonal horn wire ,,,1 earth wire,,1 wire to compressor find somewere to mount stuff,,,den bobs yer ferkin....used em on my rangie 7 years no bother...dave

Fitted a Klaxon to mine a few weeks ago, very loud and different.

Bung a pair off an old disco on it. Proper british sounding and well loud enough.

You need one or two of these.

Not got one myself but I've heard them and they'll scare the sh*t out of pretty much anything. Simple to fit and compact.

I don't think the standard horn is too bad, try checking that it horn hasn't got a load of mud and crap in it.

If your thinking of putting in a set of truck horns (klaxon, air horn etc) in addition to the standard horns and have them controlled by a switch, similar to large HGVs here's what I did.

A lit switch in the cab, off/on type, with a feed from a permanent live (just for the fun of it when you're sitting there & you just want to wake someone up) otherwise it can be ignition controlled.

A 5 point relay (the one with 87 & 87a).
85 to Earth
86 from switch in cab
87 to existing horn (this is the feed that is constantly open) (replaces the existing feed)
87a to truck horn compressor (these could be reversed depending on relay type)
30 is the existing horn feed.

When switch is off standard horn works (good for MoT), switch on then the truck horn (siren, whistle or whatever takes your fancy). Certainly better for waking up some numptys.
BTW I had the truck horns from an old truck we ran & they are fitted on the passenger side behind the headlights.
