I have started getting a hiss from the rear offside suspension (RHD) and now when i try to alter the suspension height will not change - it is showing at the lowest setting

1) Is it safe to drive?
2) Any ideas what the problem is
3) Can I fix it
4) Is it expensive to fix?

Thanks all

Leaking airbag, better not drive it until you have changed it. Best to change all 4. Check for leaks with a spray of soapy water, look for bubbles. Easy DIY fix if you are reasonably handy, I have an idiots guide with photo's and others have also done guides. Personally I reckon Arnott Gen 2 airbags are better than the original, others might disagree. Cost about £260 for parts, don't forget to order new retaining clips if you do decide to do it.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I've just had exactly the same happen to me, with a hiss from rear o/s, being very slow to come up to level, and the car v quickly settling onto its bumpstops after switching the engine off. For a week beforehand I'd noticed the car was settling overnight at its lowest level and the battery ran flat after 4-5 days, if left parked (I disconnected the rf arial but I'm hoping now that it was to do with the defective air spring waking-up the eas at intervals and flattening the battery).

I've changed the airbags (today) and found it fairly simple - although I had to resort to sheet brute force and a pry bar to get them out of their top mounting.

This site had *all* the information I needed, in the various threads over the past year or two.

The airbags can be sourced online. I got replacement Dunlops from Island 4x4 who were excellent and delivered within 24 hrs. Airbags were £115 for 2 and a full set of clips (inc. front) £12.99 (all excl. VAT)

Good luck.

i have just changed all 4 on mine due to perished bags .I have a full set of clips brand new i ordered when i did mine but my originals were as new will sell at a good price.
