Hi there just joined today looks like a good site for info and tips and boy could I use some now. Me and a friend own a 1989 classic rangee with an 3.5 efi in it which is giving us some headaches, Its used only for off roading but does travell to and from events on road so it has to stay legal.

The big problem if anyone can help with is its chucking oil down the exhaust which drips out every joint along it so its a fair bit I guess and it also smokes a fiar but white smoke mainly with wisps of blue but not heavy blue like a normal oil problem and we can,t find whats causing it, just finished doing headgaskets as we thought was that but has made no difference but it did seem to cure the missfire by doing them but that may just be the new plugs that we put in at the same time Got good compression checked twice before and after headgasket and all about 12.5>13 bar approx 150psi which from previous experience of doing stuff on non landy stuff is normally about right.

Somebody told us today to check the woodruff key on the crank as this brakes off and can cause these symptoms also said to have ecu tested as this is another possiability or even a worn cam but it doesn,t rattle or knock cold or hot so he said maybe not cam or rings as it would knock and rattle not had ecu tested yet cant find anyone local to birmingham to do this for me.

Any ideas thoughts will be greatly appreciated if it helps I am willing to phone and talk to anyone with suggestions or advice.

thanks and appreciation for any help/ suggestions please
