any advice on what to look out for? should i go 300 tdi or 200 tdi?

not looking to go serious off roading, just fancy a disco as an all round, car that i can carry stuff in, tow my boat, go fishing, and go to work and back..

are there any models etc i should avoid,,

Basicly same as you would buying any other car, I think you need to check the floor in the boot area around the sides,

not to sure about the engines everybody has their fav If i understand it the 200 has less electrics to go wrong. But I have no Idear as the only disco I've had is a TD5.. nodoubt the others will be along soon and give their opinons

thanks for the reply rob, am also looking at a td5 offered for 1200 quid.. seems cheap to me and mot is about to run out.

Does seem a bit cheap but have a good look round take for a test drive if you can or insist on a test drive, can't fault mine had it a year in April
Offroaded it a few times and it still but a smile on the face when driving it

one thing I will say if you get a Diesel get an EGR bypass kit, done that on mine.. mines a 2000 es Auto 7 seater

I think The TD5 is a good engine. I got mine from a local garage the previous owner had traded it in for a Rangy Sport, only thing not working on mine when i brought it was the front sunroof

parts i've brought for mine service wise are reasonable local landy/jag specialist does service kits that include all the bits needed.

you can get the service kits from alot of places.
