Hello to one and all...

Returning to the landy scene after being away for some time,

Ive just brought a Defender 90, Ex MOD and she needs a bit of care and attention,

got to get her Mot'd first then let the mods begin,

shes been stood for the last 3~4 year and when driving here round she is strugaling to hit 60 mph, I'm thinking its fueling, but not sure if its normal or not

the engine's a 2.5 diesel NA what should I be getting speed wise out of her, I know its never going to be a ferrari, but 60 mph come on its lame...

and coupled with wanting to lift it a bit and fit bigger wheels I need to get it sorted soon,
any help muchly appreciated
Thanks

Steve

it will have 1.667 transfer box so 60 still a bit slow but 70 would be pushing it ,if engine feels powerful enough but have run out of gears you could fit 1.4 transfer box , good oil and grease service and fuel system check ,lift pump ,filters ,pipes ,water trap etc,cam belt and when fitted advance pump till engine knocks and back of till just before knock ,some engines are a little retarded

Hey there cheers for that,
where will I find the advance on the pump, any pictures, or a micro fiche shot would be awesome...
belts where done when it came out of the mod, and its only done 5,000 KM on them so should be good, the rest are the first jobs on the list to get it running right,
where can I get hold of a 1.4 transfer box, whats the benefit, will it help when going to 33" tyres??

dont fit higher geared transfer box with really big tyres, pump has 3 x nut 13mm spanner you slacken them and pipes etc and twist pump anti clockwise from looking at engine from front, there is a plug 13mm spanner size on drivers side of pump body when removed and engine set to marks youll see edge of a disc with cut out lining up with hole to set to factory spec ,most benefit from advancing

Why not fit a higher geared transfer box with 33" tyres, and is fitting a lower number ratio ie 1.4:1 or 1.2:1 actualy going higher in gearing?
thanks for the pump advice, need to get a manual me thinks...
