Hi all mt first post so I really hope you can help. i'm a very big novice.

I have just bought a set of 235 85 16 MT tyres to go on my Classic. The Classic as no lift mods at all and it's a 4 door 1989 efi.

My question is how much (if at all) will I have to mod my Rangie to get them to fit?

If I need a lift will a 2" lift be ok?

Thanks in advance

Jango,

I run 235/70 16's with no noticeable problems. The only time I get tyre to body contact is at full suspension compression at the rear, 99% of the time this is not an issue.

You say you are going to run an 85 aspect ratio tyre, this will be taller than mine so you may get body contact when I will not. You may have to make some minor adjustments - use Landrover tool number 1!

Failing that a lift should sort it but decide how you want to do that. If you do a lift be ready for extra expense unless you go the whole hog with cranked radius arms, improved UJ's (wider angle) and there there is the question of whether or not you poly bush or run standard bushes.

Thanks Classic Kev

Could I not buy a set of 2" lift britpart super gaz kit, with polybrushes? but not the radius arms?

A place called MM-4x4 seem to have a good price on them, are they any good?

Thanks again

I run my classic at standard height, no problems so far and I have certainly been trying! If I get stuck/stopped it's because I'm grounded on the diffs, a suspension lift won't prevent this.

Wherever you go for a lift kit don't foget you need to think about extending the flexible brake hoses front and rear, you should also consider a rose jointed adjustable panhard rod. If you don't get cranked radius arms you might get some odd handling problems.

I have used MM for a number of parts, no problems so far, I would certainly use them again.

Also do a search on here, there are some bits and pieces you will be able to find about lifting landies - worth knowing.

on the subject of wheels, i am looking at a set of 18" for my 1995 4.6 HSE.....the ones advertised are 57 and 8J.....will they fit? Thanks.

Im running 235/75/16s and they rub front at full articulation or if i cain it over speed bumps. They bearly rub, dont do any visble damage but the noise is horrible!
