Hi, thought I'd better stick to your etiquette and introduce myself. I've actually been a member for a few years, but since selling the Disco, I haven't been looking on here.
Anyway, since the other half's old Nissan died, I picked up an old Freelander Sport Td Auto for her to knock around in (Gave me an excuse to have another Landy). I had always avoided Freelanders in the past, due to their reputation, but my budget and the need for something reasonably economical has sent me down this path. Having driven the Freelander around a bit, with a bit of light offroad use (muddy fields), I must say I actually quite like it, it does what I need, I'm not too precious about it, I can chuck all my kit and dogs in it and still cruise down the motorway and not break the bank.
The Freelanders dodgy reputation isn't unfounded, I've had to do a couple of window regs, the interior lights were stuck on(wiring fault) etc, etc, but having been in the trade, parts are reasonably cheap and readily available, so not a problem and I think we'll end up keeping this little Freelander for a while.
I came back on here because I've just retro-fitted cruise control and reading through your various threads on the matter certainly helped me get hold of the right parts s/hand and Gary (gstuart) has been most helpful.
I've actually posted a couple of questions in his thread "Fitting TD4 Cruise control" which I could still do with a little help with.
I've got my cruise working, but not quite as it should, I need a RHD circuit diagram for 2004 TD4 ( My Rave is only LHD) or someone to check behind the little facia panel where the cruise master switch should be.
If some of you kind soles could take a look at the "Fitting TD4 Cruise Control " tread you'll see what I'm after.
I'm sure either way, as I'm keeping the little Freelander, I'll be back on here, as it's a real mine of information and the threads on what some have done to their Landies very interesting. Cheers Chris.:)
