HI all, I will soon be selling my car for a round £5000. I have always wanted two cars.....choice one a scooby....choice two a discovery. Both cars are now affordable to me and I am swaying towards a Disco, mainly because the scooby will probably loose my licence..lol. I have a friend who has had Discos (200 tdi and 300 tdi) and he recommends a late 300 tdi but I prefer the look of the TD5 can anybody help with my indecision cus I haven't got a clue what to do..lol, many thanks for you help and advise in advance.

thats like asking if he's ever seen a gurl :D

Oh I'm sure he has...but women are like a defender, when you first get inside one you begin to understand what they're really for....and then you just keep swapping them...if you get one you like you can always change bits anyway these days...

owning a defender is a bit like getting drunk in a gay bar, if you go to far with it you will go home with a sore arse:eek

i have had 2 300tdi with not that many problems nothing major like u i like the td5s so 5 weeks ago i bought one she is lovely drives better than a 300 BUT i now after 5 weeks need PAS pump thrush bearing in clutch manifold blowing from no 5 where it warps and snaps off water pouring through roof air suspension sagging over night and a water pump sooooo i will be paying the £1500-£2000 to fix BUT i wish now i had stuck with a good late 300tdi and they easier to work on so my dad tells me anyway

many thanks for a serious reply to a genuine question, still the td5 does look and sound better....any coments for the td5??.....And yes I have heard of the defender but for the money I have to spend there ain't much out there that make's me want to buy one..If I had a few more k's to spend then maybe the choice would be better. you don't get a lot of defender for 5k.

i love my td5 totally different to a 300 just look for the common faults when buying one not like me lol but i taking the garage to small claims court when i fixed it but i would not go back to a 300 the engine is alot less responsive on a 300 and they bit more rock and roll on the road the td5 about 6 inches ish longer not alot more to say really 300 seem to rot quicker but do have less common faults but all cars have their problems
good luck
sam
