Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Just sorted my engine fan washed the radiator out of muck and went for a test drive. Ended up doing a few local lanes some twots at pepperstock have bent the barriers sideways either through poor driving or a winch not certain either way all I can say is Twots need shooting!

YESSSSS!!!!!! I'm dying to get out again now I've got the old girl back. I'll go anywhere in all honesty. Would like a proper go around Derbyshire though.

I've been making up the front plate with the ali hawse for the new winch. Bumper is 5mm and I've added 6mm plate in front of that, 11mm of steel plate should do the trick if I bash anything, hopefully protect the winch from anything nasty.
Bought a Cobalt steel drill set, they're the nuts, go through steel like butter.

saturdah? I'll be digging the front garden with a view to lay blocks. sunday trial bhclrc not yet a member tho

I must sort my front winch out again. Its been serviced just needs a new winch plate making nice and flat jobbie keep with ALRC regs. I want a military pin in the middle aswell. which in itself is a challenge. I need to pick up some large dia thick walled tubing to reinforce a standard bumper for comps I kinda bent the last one! Hehe

I heared from Malcom Witbread that they are competing in aznother winch challenge type thing I think he said ?UK Dirt OOPS I MEAN British dirt 2011 but I couldn't find anything online about it sounds like comp safari racing come winch challenge.

Will also be doing a Spyderman with the electrics I think I will put them in a sealed ali box up in the engine bay talking to the winch guys the solonoids could do with constant cool air circulation which will be interesting if I go that route.

Spyderman I am looking at a team event 2 motors 4 people later in the year if your about do you fancy it?

I've decided to take the whole solenoid box off of the winch, run 35mm cables from the winch to the solenoid box which the current plan is to mount it inside on the centre bulkhead in the load area behind the front passenger seat, then extend the control wires and relocate the plug for the controller to the dash, so I can plug it in and either use it inside or out through the driver's window.
It's expensive for the cables, but better than having to replace the solenoid, plus total reliability.
The winch motor and drum is proven 100% waterproof, not the solenoid. Considering what we do with our Landys, it's the only way to go.

i'll be honest spydie, i've never had a problem with the solonoids just the brushes your goldfinch is all sealed as is myline NOW. The solonoids are pretty good but like you say can't be a bad thing it will eliminate the chance of any issues for sure I will do the same but up high under the bonnet fully sealed..

I'm up for something a bit more competition based. really like the punch challenge events. My motor really isn't set up for trailing and never will be. I don't want to compromise or have to change bits every time so I can compete in trails.

Solenoid box seems vulnerable to getting bashed too, by moving it the winch will be fully protected by 11mm of steel plate.

anything comp based will need a rated cage difflocks and HD shafts otherwise its local low key comps like roundhill maybe scrapIron racing do an amateur entry level comp.

Local low key fun stuff is all I'm after.

I was looking at roll cages at Billing, seriously thinking about putting one on mine, not decided whether to go for internal or external. leaning towards internal.

whitbread offroad internal external if ur gonna keep it a hardtop internal rear hoop and external front hoop would be my choice for sure to msa spec so you can compete in all the comps and not limit yourself.
