Total lack of compression. Took the plugs out and poured oil down the bores, it then fired up, it had been sat for about 3 years. I'm yet to see if it will re-start without the same trick.
A couple of bumps to free the clutch and it was away.

I can't believe how smooth the engine is, it was ticking over at about 350rpm quite happily, no vibration through the body at all. It's not smooth on all cylinders either, new plugs required.

Zero brakes, so they need attention. Brake cylinders most likely.

Compression was er lacking we could hold and seal a finger over one of the spark plug holes. When cranking.
 
spitfiremk1's 88 inch chassis/body is bloody high its higher than my 90 I think he is gonna have to get it lower looks silly with 750 tyres and a huge gap in the arches. Even tho the tubs not fitted properly it gives an idea and its bloody high!

get it legal brakes mot ect.

Spritfiremk1 already has plans for a 1 ton 109. He even has a genuine brand new gearbox kicking about somwhere for his build so 900 tyres will be on order mabe in a couple of years me thinks.

Sounds great. Hopefully the lack of compression will be nothing more than needing to be run to get the oil flowing although it might, at a later stage, be worth your while doing a compression test to see if the valves are sticking or if it might be a gasket or ring problem. Certainly sounds promising if nothing else it does run.
 
Hey folks... been trying to do as much as possible to the Landy... albeit with minimal ( or zero) funds. Got shafted by a client for a lot of money this week so that hurt a lot... hence no funds until the next invoice gets paid... but have decided to rebuild the disco using existing parts apart from the clutch release bearing... which I will change as soon as I can order the damn thing on Tuesday...

Kai's still working on his welding.. he has been concetrating on welding plates over existing metal... the logic being that he would bedoing this if rePAIRING HOLES IN FLOORS ETC. Ooops caps.

He's getting pretty good... not brilliant still but the next thing is to take him to Andy's (Spitfiremk1's) place to have a go with his proper big welder... I think he is getting to the stage where he will appreciate the difference, rather than a month ago where he would have looked but not really understood the improvement in results.

IN any case... I trust you folks are having a good time with your motors... we are trying to get the disco ready for Wales... still the third weekend in July right?

What a day!!

Cheers to Spyderman for introducing me to the wonder that is Series Electrics. Hehehe, at least we got it all working ('till next time) Just managed to get the roof lights sorted and the Rangie back together then it tipped down. Hope everybody else had a great day too, apart from laning there is not much better than being able to work on a landy in warm sunshine!

Electrics turned out to be a total nightmare, started as an easy fix of the headlights, turned out to be a complete dash strip down, when every bit of electrics died one by one. It lives again though, so all is good.
