hi dave i live in barton just down the road from luton, theres a few on here that live in luton.

would love to go laning but cant bugger the landrover as i have to drive up to melton mowbray next sunday to go to college!

Well I'm happy...got a few bits done to the Disco today, extended the breathers up the snorkel and changed the diff oils....what idiot put plastic filler caps on the diffs!!!!! Arrghhh had to chisel the buggers off, my back diff had some water contamination in obviously due to the standard breather not being particulary high
New oil and extended breathers should solve that :D

Tomorrow.....Diff lock linkage getting fitted!! :p

hi all,
im in luton, and would like to know of any around where i am.
cheers, Dave
I'm in Luton, as is Gibbo-Phil, Jai, & Ryder, Classic Kev is in Dunstable, everybody else isn't too far away either.
There are quite a few local lanes, nice and easy within a short drive. I'm out of action this month through work commitments, but November on should be good. We have a pub meet first Wednesday night of the month, you're more than welcome.

Hi Dave,

I'm up near Lewsey Farm, and around the Hospital area. There are a few lanes up Offley way.
Have you got any new O.S maps?
Do you know what you can and can't drive legally?
I don't mind showing you after work next week somtime although currently I have my Landy stuck in the garden with a puncture (dont ask) I need to get my hilift out and move it over before I can drive it anywhere. Once I have my puncture fixed I'll be out.

Welcome to the Herts Laners,
What mota have you got?
do you have any recovery kit or recovery points on your mota?

Sorry for lots of questions we try to get every mota we take out have full recovery points just in case things get iffy and motors need to be recovered.

Jai

Sounds like you've had a busy day.

I've spent the day felling trees. Anyone need fire wood???

Also anyone got a Landy mounted Cherry picker?

Most water contamination in the diffs happen because of wading, the hot diffs hit cold water, cool rapidly and it sets up a vacuum which pulls water past the oil seals, not normally because of the breathers alone. I've got remote breathers and I still get water in.

Oh and the Pub meet is on the move it I'll PM everyone details nearer the time But I think It will be Closer to the M1 than we are currently.

Like Beaker said youve been busy!

Don't rule out the water could have got past the hub seals this is quite common seals are pretty good but will let water in when doing the deeper stuff. Also was the breather blocked? thats also a common problem that will also lead to gub seal failures. When I drained my front diff before Salisbury Last year it was a muddy watery mixture that must have been like that for a while me thinks.
