Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Clearing/maintaining lanes is something I would be happy to help with but there are a number of issues that would need to be addressed and I suspect that will mean the involvement of the Local Authority.

It's a good idea but tread lightly. Anyway, RE: Pub Meet - 6 November is good for me, will look forward to it.

6th November is good. Beers are on Birthday Boy Kev, who could I miss it.;)

I've bit the bullet and bought a X-Eng Disc Handbrake. Had to do something, it'd never pass the MOT next month with the one it's got and I don't want to miss any more Laning this year.

I've got problems again.
Electric Fan is dead, need a new one.
Rear Propshaft needs replacing or at the very least rebuilding. Vibration is so bad it's undrivable. I'll get parts pronto, but Laning for me on Saturday is out, as I need to be fixing it first. Hopefully Sunday if all goes to plan.

I do not think that a group of people who want to do their best for the environment have to have a committee. We are simply a group of like minded individuals from all walks of life who have a vested interest in the maintenance of our lanes. The invitation is a great idea, and I am sure that all of our group would make the guest welcome.

Personally Rose and I believe that we would like to clear up the slip end lane from the remnants of stolen cars and dumped stuff... nothing dirty or dangerous but there are paddling pools and bumpers n stuff that have been there for months. These are the things that provide ammo for antis.
Paddling pools and Bumpers used as ammo for the antis, thats a good idea Chris, all we need to do now is build somthing to fire it at them.

LOL! I know where there's an old series... good engine but its not driving anywhere... maybe we could hook the motor up to a slighshot!

I'm slowly building a new Series, bit like the Johnny Cash song 'One piece at a time'
I've ordered a new Propshaft and UJs from Paddocks express service. The X-Eng Handbrake is already on the way.
I will fit them Saturday, so if you guys don't mind moving things to Sunday, I'll be able to join in, if not ah well, have a good time. I'll expect the phone call from Ryder Saturday night from Ashwell Lane.:D

Hello all

Any chance that perhaps I might join in on a nice and easy green lane suitable for a standard Discovery and novice driver

Thanks and a pint for anyone who can assist me getting off the surfaced roads and doing some laning :)

Shouldn't be a problem, I'm sure somebody will be going out and about this weekend, BTW where in the world are you? Herts, Beds,Bucks, Essex even? Alternatively, you are welcome to join the rabble at a pub meet - I think the plan is to go for a beer on 6 November, can PM details if you're interested.

I should think you must know every nut and bolt by now (almost as well as I know mine:eek: ) Anything you need, you know where to find me.

Keep your eyes open on this thread! Some of the guys go out in the evenings, some of us will be out this weekend. I have to take a look at my throttle linkage but if I get that done in time I'll be out at the weekend too.

There are many local lanes that you can drive with an "out of the box" disco. The general rule of never going alone is one to remember since even on the safest of lanes a mechanical failure is possible and you really don't want to be leaving the vehicle.

If you go out with any of our lot on here you won't go far wrong.

When Spyderman says "How about Ashwell", drive the other way.

Look forward to meeting you!

Thanks and it will be good to meet some people who I can learn a bit about how to be a proper 4x4 driver from. I am in South Beds, but anywhere within a reasonable distance is a viable option for some weekend laning.

Unfortuately this weekend is already booked with visits and helping to move stuff but I will certainly be following your advice to keep an eye on this thread and hope nobody minds if I invite myself along one weekend soon! :)

Hey disco is your motor completely standard or do you have recovery points? Its always handy to have someting to attach the rope to when you need a little tug.

We're in Dunstable so probably very close to you. There's a regular little route around the area that we do, takes in about 5 lanes and two or three fords. Its a three or four hour run around and will clock up about 30 miles. Starts in Flitwick, ands up south of luton. If you're interested we could maybe do it one evening next week. We could probably mug Classic Kev into joining us and any others who fancy a little night laning.

AFAIK it is completely standard. Certainly on road tyres and not lifted. What sort of times would the run be and would the car be able to cope with the fords?
