Hi everyone,

i'm fairly new to this site and read alot about other peoples problems but i've come across one of my own.

Me and the mrs purchased a 2003 Facelift Discovery 2 ES last August from LR Dealer at Hinkcly, but we've had our fair share of problems but would never go back to cars after buying this one.

Recently the reversing sensors are going on constantly and then maybe say a week or two later they'll work for one reverse action then continue to play up for weeks and weeks.

When the sensors aren't working the beeping in constant all the time unless you turn the switch off and then it's bliss, but sometimes we need the sensors as there are some very tight spaces in Birmingham, any help on this matter would be fantastic.

Don't know if this is a common problem but i need help as Land Rover want £300 to sort it and they would tell me what the problem is.

Hi dolan1982 welcome to the forum

With some processor control'd devices they can get confused so the first thing to try is power down the sensors ecu for 30sec by removing the supply fuse for the ecu, then replace the fuse and see what's what.
It has been known for ultrasonic sensors to brake down and go permantly active and send a signal but then receive the signal when there is nothing for it to bounce back from so then you must have a look at these. The units are sealed but a wire break off and touch another inside or the unit was sealed badly and has let water in. so you may have to replace the sensor/sensors
It's a known problem but not that common there a few posts on the subject in varous forums.

Regards

Mine has done this a couple of times (04 Landmark TD5).
It will go bonkers for half an hour (as if there is something behind me) and then be ok again.
Each time, I have given them a wipe but they still think theres something there. Half hour later they will be fine again ... very odd.
Theyve done it twice iirc, in the couple of months (or so) Ive owned it.

If you find the cause, I'd be interested to know too.
