that disco 2 prob seems slightly different as his flickers as such. Mine just goes and stays in limp mode i think.

Could be for a similar problem though.

Arghh!!

haha, I dont know. I think i need to know what might cause it to over boost.
I havent touched the waste gate, but if its sticking etc could this do it? Is there any procedure that can be done to check it?

I cant think what else?

I think it could be something more than the MAF. I had it disconnected today and it was running fine. I overtook something up a hill (lots of pedal again, same as last night) and it seemed to go into a limp mode.

So it seems to reset itself after you turn it off. Massive pain in the arse. Done a bit of reading and it could be the Turbo over boosting on full load and the ECU going into limp. A restart resets it.

Any ideas what could be causing the overboost. I noticed there seems to be a bit of metal hanging out the back of the intercooler. Could this cause something odd with the boosting?

The link above seems a common thing, but couldnt really find a difinative answer.

Massive pain!!

what does the bit of metal look like? It could be you have split your intercooler and it is a fragment of it peeled back.

It does sound like turbo overboosting if the engine resets after turning off. As mentioned already check that your wastegate is free and smooth in operation.

FOSS. The turbo on a fender has an actuator rod as does the disco. It doesn't have the solenoid that the disco has though.

The bit of metal looks like a bit of the intercooler, I think it's a bit of the wavey mesh bit, but can't be sure, it's right in the middle and on the back side, so would have to take it out to have a look. It's on the engine side, so if it has gone, it must have popped rather than being punctured as the front looks fine.

Is it common to split the intercooler. You would need a huge amount of pressure surely. This bit of metal is new though, it wasn't there a few weeks ago when I cleaned all the sh1t out of the front of the rad!

It can and does happen although the idea of your landy going into limp mode if it's overboosting is to stop it happening.
