Help with a snorkel?

I have put this on as general so as to pick all ya brains...
Hi has anyone done a DIY snorkel on a freebie?
And before you all start laughing...its for 2 reasons..
1) at the moment i am changing my air filter twice a year(as its pretty dusty in Spain).
2) When it does rain it bloody rains ( dont know if they have been showing the flooding in Alicante etc on the Uk Tv, but its been bad)
So it seems to me it could be worth while going down this root.
Also i do tend to take mine offroad as well, as there are plenty of nice tracks to go on over here.
I have seen the ROCA item which is made in Spain but it seems a bit hefty on price and i am pretty adapt at makin things, but im not really sure where to take the outlet for the snorkel so some advice and possibly pics would be of great help..
I have already done some roof lights on a homemade light bar so if anyone is interested in this i could post some pics,(its a 3dr L series btw got 2 spots + 2 fogs mounted on the roofrails, not super pretty as i call this the mark 1 may make a few changes ,but it is practical )
so any help would be appreciated.

Snorkel would be the last of me worries if it rains that hard. I'd mek sure yur doors dunt fall off first

Na im alright there..welded them shut and climb in the back via constantly open rear window..lol

have a shufty at me profile. the snork in the picture is just rainwater goods & flexi pipe.......................dint put a goldfish on the top of this wun...................mores the pity.

Hiya,

I'd be very interested in seeing the light bar, am afer making one myself.

As for snorkel..... toyed with various ideas for making my own but have to admit for function price etc. i couldn't make one for less than £70 (materials etc, plus making an effective mushroom style cap) Couldn't top this one at £65 so bought it. Mail Order 4x4 Snorkels

Hi there mate will get some pics done over the weekend and will then post them,
I have done it on my freelander but the basis could be used for other applications as well.
Basically its a length of shelving wall bracket cut to fit across my roof rails which i have mounted with some angle brackets to my THULE roof bars,
The way i mounted them was towards the front of the bar so as i can still use the bars for load carrying,
All in i think cost about 20 quid including the lights from ebay.
When you see the pics it will give you a better idea, and as i said in the original post it isnt super pretty, needs a bit of tyding up on the bolt fixing, mainly they need to be cut off but im sure it will get done sometime.
