its not the needle , whats happening is that one of the carbs is probably flooding and the fuel is over richening the inlet manifold , which is called a rich cut , as used in aviation circles . You can get the same effect by pulling the ckoke out on a fully warmed up engine , to much fuel for the correct air/fuel ratio. Try feeding one carb at a time with fuel , this will allow the engine to run , and then you can sort out the faulty carb HTSH

Took carbs off and stripped. Needles warn etc.

Checked model number with SU and they are for a 3.5. I have a 3.9 block.

Would you guys say they ate ok or should I look at an after market carb? Probably best posting this in another thread
Needles probably been changed for the 3.9, jets would stay the same. worn needles would overfuel any way to feed 3.9 so I woildn't worry.
take faulty carb off and take bottom off and check float and fuel shut off valve, might just be furred up or sticky, not a hard job:)

I spoke to the guy I bought it off. He says he got the carbs off of a mate. The block is out of a efi RRC so entire setup for carbs could be wrong. Anyone know what part number is for 3.9 needles, I dont want to order what's in as it's likely wrong.

Sorry for delayed reply. Had to spend some time with the wife ;-)
