Mine was a pain. I turned the ignition on till the pump built up pressure, you can hear the ticking of the fuel pump slow down, pull the choke out and push the throttle to the floor then release, allow the pump to rebuild pressure then turn the engine over and it should fire. Mine runs better on half choke rather than full choke after it fires till it warms up. Hope this helps and makes sense.
If its been stood for a long while check that dashpots are lifting not stuck down .
Is it old petrol in the tank, try putting neat in the cylinders through the spark plugs and see if she coughs, might even run
Had a 83 that either would or wouldn't start, never got to the bottom of it so sold it. Bloke who bought it said it was a dodgy ignition coil, but if you have a spark it shouldn't be that.
Not been able to get out to day due to weather but I had a quick look at a reference manual and notice No6 are connected together using a hose. The manual suggest they should be connected to the crand case breather or blocked off. Dont know if this would be effecting things
a bit stanley unwin anyone ?
Best block them off or connect them to crankcase breather pipes to get mixture correct.
They don't suck much when connected as it should be a closed crankcase breather system which means that its sealed.Would them being connected have the same effect?
