Hi guys, just servicing the disco - wanted to clean the sedimentor out as it's full of emulsion and doesn't look like it's been touched in ages. What the hell do I do to get it off? Haynes manual says "remove the bolt" which I assume is on top that you can't see. HAd a feel around and can't feel a proper bolt head - assume it's also supposed to be on top, in the centre, pointing down. It almost feels like it could be an allen key head or spline bit but it's so full of mud, I can't figure it out.......I'm covered in oil and mud, it's freezing and I just want to get it done! :)

Might wash the vehicle first, next time I do a service on it....I've got so much salisbury plain in my eyes I look like a right state......!

There is an 11mm bolt on the top of the assembly, best attacked I find with a ring spanner. Once that is undone be prepared with a plastic ice cream tub or similar to use as a catch tank for the diesel that WILL spill.

Sometimes the bowl will stick on the rubber seals so give it a tap with a rubber mallet or similar to break the seal.

Thanks lads, I could have sworn I can't feel a proper bolt head but I'll go have another look now. I did a search and it said 11mm but unless it's well rusty and mishapen, I didn't think that could be it.

Thanks again!

It might have a bûggered head when someone tried to undo it with an open-ended spanner?

All sorted now! Thanks again people. Bolt head was just encased in mud, came off pretty easy once I dug it out. Had 4 tablespoons of "matter" at the bottom of the sedimentor. Don't think it's ever been cleaned.

I got a rubbish ****part fuel filter and the drain tap is knackered so was just ****ing out fuel....I had to put the old one back on in the end.

Emailed Britpart this morning and I just got a call on my mobile from them. They were very sorry to hear I had a problem with the filter and are sending me a new one today, free of charge.
Just goes to show, if you have a problem with britpart, you're best of emailing them direct and not the reseller!
