Best of luck, in some respects its good that the police are this in the ball, but for honest owners its a real pain that it 7snt being returned

Yeah that's what I thought when I first got pulled over, I never in a million years thought it would end up at this!

Well these are things I never even thought about when rebuilding it as I thought the parts could be swapped for like for like parts due to the old being to far gone to repair, but it's not until it's too late before you realise.

Just a further note on vehicle chassis ID for those considering a full Chassis rebuild! there appears to be no clear definition on how much of the original chassis has to be left after a rebuild for the former to be retained. I did however contact DVLA telling them that my chassis rebuild would retain 2 of the original crossmembers (in reality it has 3) and they stated that it was completely acceptable and my vehicle ID would be retained. o_O

I've rang everyday for 2 weeks but it's made no difference my solicitors said I need to be patient and wait for them to do what they need to do, I just thought there might have been someone else that had been in a similar situation on here and could give me an idea of what to expect.

This recently happened to my mate, he rebuilt his 89, 90 about 5 years ago,

Built through a buissness as a work tool for recovery,

He got stopped same as you and the officer said something along the lines as oh it's galvanised chassis and not the original engine, and away they took it,

After pressure from his solicitor on the police and a mountain of receipts for the build and a stack of photos they released it,

The officer who seized it was not happy to give it back,

I know of a few guys who had them seized and got them back,

Whatever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'? So many defenders are put together using different bits of other defenders, how can they possibly assume that the bits must be stolen? It's worrying for owners like me who's landy's are very different to how they left the factory. I'm certainly no criminal but what am I supposed to do when plod pulls me over in my red station wagon with disco 200tdi and says 'my, what a lovely white v8 hi-cap pickup you have'?

It is hardly going to be a priority to them - and the more you hassle, the longer they will take. As your solicitor said... be patient. Answer any questions they may have. Supply the receipts you have.
We complain enough about the number of stolen landies, dodgy rebuilds, ebay fraudsters, etc - is good to see the police actually caring/investigating.

When I bought the 90 o have now, I have known the lad years, I know where he bought it from when he built it and when he spayed it a different colour,

When I bought it the log book said green as it used to be but its blue, well on the outside there's still a few green bits, as he was a mate he just gave me the logbook and said send it off,

Befor I did I filled in my details in the new keeper and I also filled in the colour change part,

Came back in my name with new colour, Simple
