Hello, Iam new to Range Rover land, so your advice would be much appreciated.
Looking to purchase RR vogue se or supercharged, have around 17-18k to spend. Have no idea what model year to avoid etc, I have never owned one before or know anybody who has so no idea where to start.
Many thanks for looking.

god knows !

i wish i had that budget !

all i can say is diesel - if you have a deep pocket and you want something quicker than petrol is your answer.

TBH I have never (or will ever) buy a petrol car.

look on ebay - petrol range rovers are allways 2-4K cheaper than the diesel models ??? :D

Same as any other car. Set out to buy the newest, lowest mileage, best serviced you can find.

Then fall in love with the one with the best looking interior and get a copy of RAVE.

From what i have been told . Go for a 2005 onwards apparantly most of the earlier gremlins had been sorted by then?

Buy one from a landrover or respected dealer.
Stay away from high milage.
18 k should get you a tidy se with leather 2006 model from a dealer.
A couple of grand more will get you a low milage hse.
5 grand more will get you a vogue lowish miles.
Good luck

If you have a budget of £18k why not spend a bit of it on a Land Rover Experience day - drive a RR "offroad" for a day and see if you like the car - and if the instructor is half-way decent , pick his brains on what to look for when buying one.
When you are looking I would stick to reputable independents who are marque specialists or main dealers (for that money you will probably looking at one someone has px`d in at a main dealer and that they would normally knock out through the trade, unless you get in first !). I would also be tempted to join the Range Rover Register and if there are local meets to you then go for a pint with them and pick their brains - an hour in the pub car park being walked around their various pride and joys should be time well spent.
And be prepared to shop around and travel - there are massive differences in price, spec and condition
