Hi All, i am new to this so i am sorry if i am doing this wrong
can anyone help me with the suspension on my TD5 Disco, i have just taken my caravan out and could not go above 50 on the motorway without it getting a wobble on, i think this is due to the air suspension? would new shockers help or has anyone any other ideas?
thanks for any replies

could also be the caravan was loaded incorrectly

isnt above 50mph speeding with a caravan anyway?

Speed limit is 60mph on motorway/dual carriageway(too high imo) & 50mph on single carriageway, but I'm inclined to agree that it may well be an issue with the caravan that's causing the wobble.

I think I read somewhere that the top speed of 60mph on a motorway when towing is dependant upon the towing vehicle to towed trailer ratios, though I could be wrong, and yes, 60mph is far too fast for most people driving car & caravan combinations that I see on the roads.

Oh and yeah, I agree, probably a badly loaded van - uneven weight distribution or centre of gravity way off the axle centre, or it could be a sticky brake or worn bearing on one side, if one wheel is hot and one is cold try freeing the brakes on the hot side (reversing a few feet often helps, but only until you use the brakes again.)

Snaking at low speed usually means there is not enough nose weight on the caravan.
The 60mph limit used to only apply when the trailer was a certain percentage of the towing vehicle weight. I just found this which appears to say otherwise.

Either way, if you haven't done much towing before, take it a bit slower. Caravans are bloody horrible things. Its like towing a sail in a cross wind. I'm used to boats, at least they've got some weight to them.
