Got a tow bar came off before rear chassis swap, now i cant work out how to put back on. Have fitted with the two round bits on top bolts (between chassis and tow bar plate) but then bottom not sitting parralel with the chassis with a plate either side of chassis on bottom bolts.

Does it have to be set away from the chassis?

Any one got a picture of theres cheers

reet i aint got any piccies but ill describe it as best i can

the drop plate goes straight onto the rear crossmember and ligns up with the 4 bolt holes on that the bolts go through evrything and the two red oxide plates serve as braces on the back of the crossmember rather like bloody massive washers

The way I mounted mine, was with the drop plate (pic 3) flat against the crossmember. The 2 spreader plates (pic 1) flat against the other side of the crossmember, and didn't use the round bits, but I did use spring washers between the spreader plates and the nuts. This may not be the correct way of fitting it, but it worked for me without any probs.

If its the standard towplate you'll have a spacer on the back in line with the large chassis bolts. This is so it clears the body mounting flange - and you need some form of spacer for the top bolts - like a few washers or similar.

if you plan to tow something heavy or do any off road recovery ( snatching ) i would sergest buying a universal drop plate from your local motorist shop as it fit nicely on the inside of the rear cross member as it will help stop the nuts from being pulled through ;)

Indeed. Mine was a home made effort made out of some 7mm steel plate and it does the job very nicely. Its got a cut out for the flange that fits the crossmemeber to the body.

My spreader plate was missing from the kit, so I made one myself out of a single bit of 5mm steel plate. I would have been quicker if I had bought the LR ones :D

yeah will be using it for snatching etc so i used 5mm that i had and made a plate to fill square gap in rear cross member should be solid cheers for the advice

will do the same again when we get ours but fit an l.w.b. drop plate as when we fit parabolic springs it will sit to high for when i drop my trailer on, had this problem with the s11a when i fitted parabolics so it should sit better with the l.w.b.

i don't plan on towing anything heavy with this one but you never know if your help it ever needed especially in the winter :)

yeah i need to rethink my tow bar and get a drop plate as every trailer i put behind it is to high at the front, this the highest trailer i have and still dosent sit flat. Savaing up for parabolicss so will soon be higher again.
