my landy wont start now after ive fitted new manifolds and an almost new webber carb. i get the odd cough n splutter but thats about it? any ideas? its got fuel and ran before swapping the manifolds to replace a cracked one.

could be a number of things
are the mixture screws set anywhere near right ? you dont want them tight in or fully out
is there a plastic type insulater block between the manifold and carp ? make sure its the right way around as that can cause problems
it might not even be the parts you changed it could be ignition fault, make sure the dist is conected propely, pull 1 of the ht leads see if you get a spark
its probally 1 of thoses little faults that is so easy to overlook
good luck

kind of running now. there was an extra breather pipe outlet on the base of the carb that wasnt on my old 1. is now running but missing a bit, think the exhaust gaskets are leaking a bit!

exhaust gasket wont really cause a miss fire on an old engine it will just make a noise
inlet gasket would cause missfire becouse of air fuel mixture ratio being way out
i would still be checking the spark plugs and maybe do a compression test had that cause a miss fire before although u say it was fine before the swap
get a gas tester and set up the carb and distributor timing propally see where that gets you

You say the carb is almost new...
Do you know its history..did you give it a thorough clean, inside and out before fitting...it could have simply got crap in it...
