Hi all,

I hope that you can help. I'm considering buying a Series 2a Landy SWB, however I'm new to Land Rovers, and perhaps you can answer my question.

The LR has the cab style body (pick up style) with rear wrap around rear screen.

This could be a daft question, but is it possible to change this so a Hard Top can be fitted? This is the style of Landy I was after (so my dog can fit in!).

Any help?!!

Cheers

It's easy to convert Truck Cabs to Hard Tops. All the panels just bolt on and are continuously for sale on flea-bay.
You'd need hard top sides (either with or without windows), a roof and a rear safari door.
I've just done this to my deepender - cost me about £150 in total.

Note - Series and Deepender roofs and sides are not interchangable, but rear doors are.

Hi an welcome. In answer to your question, changing the body style of your pickup is one of the simplest mods you can make to a landy.

You also have the choice of fitting an hardtop (HT) or a canvas & hoops (tilt & sticks) or fitting an Ivor Williams style alloy rear cover (usually seen on Farmers landies) If fitting an hardtop you will need to remove the roof and rear section of your cab, and a couple of mate to help you lift the HT into position. Then it's just a case of bolting it down. Make sure you get the rubber strip that the HT sits on. you can get an HT with a split rear lift up door drop down tailgate or and ordinary swing out door.

Hope that answers ur question.

Ear Pikey - if yer come across one er them lift-up / top-half doors fer a hardtop, I'm looking fer one. They're better than a side-opening door if you sometimes want to carry lengths of timber etc.

Av found u one. almost definately for sale just need to find out how much he wants for it. It's down in South Wales & I'm heading for Torquay & Cornwall 1st week of sept so I can drop it off for you if price is right and it's in reasonable nick.

Me niece lives in Cornwall and I've got a friend lives in Torbay. Plus I'll be on Anglesey for me Burfday so I'll be heading down the A470 then over the severn bridge to Torbay then down to Cornwall.
