hi does any 1 know what cd player comes in the discovery 2 as standard that work with the steering wheel controls or any other that do i have a Phillips tape player with cd changer at the moment but cd doesn't work thanks for any help

IIRC it's an Alpine 6 CD interchanger.. well,, it is on mine. I'll check the number on it when I can find a torch ;)
The tape player/radio in the dash is a Land Rover one....

EDIT:- OK it's an Alpine XQE000110PMAD

There's a few models of stereo that came as standard with the D2, depending on trim level and age. I think they all had the ability to be controlled by the steering wheel. There was the Alpine system that had a separate 6 CD changer under the driver's seat and an amp under the passenger's, there was the 5500 radio cassette player and the later 6500 radio CD player fixed to the lower trim levels.

They weren't bad when working okay but they're dated compared with the latest offerings in vehicles, which you'd expect as the D2's last year of manufacture was 2004. There's no sockets to plug in your ipod, MP3 player or whatever.

I've looked at changing mine and it seems most of the aftermarket stuff is full of garish lights and fiddly little buttons that seem to me to be more at home in a boy racer's Vauxhall Corsa. Plus, I think with them all you need an adapter to make the steering wheel controls work. I've had a scan in previous threads and really haven't found a satisfactory solution, so up until now I've stuck with the original one.

thanks for your help got my cd changer to work so gonna stick with it
thought the later d2 would of had some thing modern
